CHAPTER 1 REPRESENTING DATA
Complete the Survey to Create Data to Make a Simple Circle Graph
- Select only one answer for the survey question and click Submit.
- WAIT until every student (in both classes) has responded.
- Then, click "See previous responses" to see the final results.
- Use the Percent Circles handout to display the resulting data as a circle graph.
- Draw a straight line from the centre of the circle to the outside to start drawing your first piece of the pie.
- Using any of the percentages from the survey results, draw a second line from the centre of the circle to the appropriate distance on the outside of the circle from the first line so that the piece of pie represents that percentage. Write the actual percentage inside the piece of the pie AND write a description explaining what the piece of pie represents from the data.
- Using a second percentage from the survey results, draw the next piece of pie starting immediately after the first section of the pie. Continue to label both the appropriate percentage AND title in each section of pie.
- Continue this process until all slices of the pie have been completed.
- All of the slices of pie chart should add up to a total percentage of 100% and no adjacent pie slices should be overlapping.
- Use a different coloured pencil crayon to lightly shade in and outline each slice of the pie so they each are distinct from each other.
- Be sure to write your name, period, and date on the handout and hand it in.
